Shell Marine has launched a high base number two-stroke cylinder oil that claims to drive optimum engine performance.
Shell Alexia 140 provides shipowners and operators with the ability to protect their engines against cold corrosion to maximum operational performance. It also gives them the opportunity to optimise feed rates across vessel operating conditions.
Alexia 140 covers a range of fuel types from liquefied natural gas to heavy sulphur fuel oil. It will function on a range of engine types from full load to those operating by slow steaming.
The latest cylinder oil lubricant has undergone 18 months of laboratory testing and field trials and is now available in the ports of Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Antwerp, Tanjung Pelepas, Busan and Salalah.
Panos Deligiannis Tankers, Neda Maritime Agency Technical Director says it is vital to match the right cylinder oil with the vessel’s operating profile and engine specific requirements in order to protect its engines and maximise performance.
