Hempel has launched a new range of protective coatings to its North American market that will increase the lifespan and reduce maintenance of ship components.
The Hempaline Defend epoxy and vinyl ester linings have been developed to protect equipment used in challenging and hostile conditions that suffer from extreme pH changes, abrasion, elevated temperatures and high corrosion rates.
Equipment suitable to be applied with the coatings include storage tank bottoms, process vessels, secondary containment areas, produced water tanks, API 12F, power plant flue gas desulphurisation ducting and absorbers.
Hempaline Defend vinyl ester linings can be used as tank linings to protect concrete surfaces from aggressive cargos. Glass, mineral-flake filled coatings and fiberglass reinforced linings are also included.
Hempaline Defend epoxy range protects steel and concrete surfaces from aggressive chemicals, elevated temperatures and abrasive service conditions.
The coatings can be applied with a range of hardeners allowing an asset to be returned to service in as little as 24 hours.
The coatings will enable shipowners and operators to increase the lifespan of their ships’ components and reduce maintenance intervals, allowing for maximum production and increased operational efficiency.
Michael McGlamry, Protective Product Manager, North America says: “We are excited to introduce our new trusted lining solutions in North America. Hempaline high performance linings offer a 24 or 72-hour return to service time while still maintaining the same level of corrosion and cargo contamination protection for our customer’s assets.”
