Clean Shipping Alliance to support scrubber adoption

Clean Shipping Alliance to support scrubber adoption

A group of companies commercial shipping and cruise industries have created a Clean Shipping Alliance 2020 (CSA 2020) to expand knowledge on exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS), also known scrubbers, used to reduce sulphur from ships’ exhaust emissions.

The alliance will research and provide up-to-date information on open-loop and closed-loop scrubbers and their air and water emissions. The alliance will also support the implementation of the IMO’s global 0.5 per cent cap on sulphur emissions, set to enter into force on January 1, 2020.

CSA 2020 believes that scrubbers will have a huge effect on port and ocean environments and help to reduce the environmental impact of shipping.
