Fjord1’s electric ferry enters into service

Fjord1’s first Havyard 936 electric ferry, Hadarøy, has entered into operation on the Sulesund-Hareid route, Norway.

On January 2, Havyard announced the ferry it designed and built for Fjord1 begun service. The ferry will run on battery power during normal operation but is equipped with biodiesel for secondary propulsion.

The ferry is the first of three to be delivered and enter into operation this winter on the Sulesund-Hareid route. There are a further 11 ferries to be built and delivered by Havyard for Fjord1.

Norwegian Electric Systems delivered the bridge, automation and electrical power system, while Havyard Design & Solutions designed the vessel.
