Japanese trio launch new company to develop hydrogen-fuelled engines

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Yanmar Power Technology, and Japan Engine Corporation have concluded a joint venture contract for combined investment, and announced the joint establishment of a new company HyEng Corporation to develop marine hydrogen-fuelled engines. 

With the establishment of HyEng Corporation, the three companies will further advance their joint development activities and accelerate their drive to develop new markets for decarbonisation in the marine domain.

The new company will develop the basic technology for a hydrogen-fuelled engine, develop international standards and rules for hydrogen fuel supply systems, work to integrate hydrogen fuel supply systems, complete maintenance and operation of hydrogen fuel engine demonstration facilities.

The three companies have invested equal amounts.
